to Finn Robinson + Tuck Bennett.
Making their early (32 weeks) and QUICK debut at 5:19 and 5:22am on May 4th. I checked in at 4am, and an hour later we were a family of FIVE!
Can you believe it? We still can't. We have three kids!
Some stats:
Finn, born first, weighed in at 4 lbs. 3 ounces and was 17.5 inches
Tuck, the youngest, weighed 3 lbs. 15 ounces and was 18 inches
Both look like little birds, and have the funniest pip squeak cries
Obviously not identical, Finn has lighter and more hair.
While Tuck's is a bit darker and less full.
Both babies were whisked right away to the Nicu, are as healthy as to be expected for their age, but will most likely be in there for 5- 6 weeks. I won't bore you with all the medical jargon of what they're on, and plus I can't pronounce any of it, or keep it straight. So, that's that. Finn is a bit healthier than Tuck, but already Tuck is a feisty fighter... just like in the womb.
Poor little Tate might not believe she actually has two new brothers since she can't even see them yet, and won't be able to for a couple weeks, and even then, just through a window!
She's been such an angel about it, although I imagine she's probably so sad inside.
The last three days have looked something like this...
Could not have made it through any of this without him. I'm so grateful for a loving, patient husband who stays by me through everything, is at my beckon call, calms me down every 10 minutes as I cry about everything, and will still call me his wife after witnessing the mesh panties + diaper look I've been sporting.
Above: Finn
Below: Tuck
Poor Tuck got really mangled on the way out (C- section) and his hand was completely black for the first couple days.
We didn't get to hold Finn until the second day, which was sooner than they thought even. It was heaven, and he is such a sweet calm baby.
Last night was also a great Nicu night. We were able to hold Tuck for the first time and he seemed to really like it. I also got to feed Finn his 2 mil's from a bottle (think 2 drops) and while he took it, just to suck that little bit of milk and swallow completely wiped him out. They are so fragile, but so so sweet.

AHHHHH!! Congratulations!! What sweet, beautiful little miracles! I'm so happy for you all!!
ReplyDelete(and you are stunning, btw)

ReplyDeleteINSANE, you have two new babies already!

ReplyDeleteChelsea... you don't know me, but I used to work with Sammy Richards (@ the Sanctuary)and got to know Dru, Rachel and the rest of that fun bunch. I came across your blog through Caroline Prince (who I worked with at University of Phoenix before she moved to AZ).
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your little guys... they are precious. I was up at St Mark's NICU in March. It is so hard... but if your baby (or in your case babies) need to be away from their mommy, that is place. I remember crying every night I walked back to my hospital room after feeding him. I am thinking of you and your family... and can't wait for your babies to graduate from the NICU! (It is a big deal... they have to work really hard in there!) If you ever want to talk about things feel free to contact me.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! They are beautiful and love the names!
ReplyDeletenot quite sure how I found your blog...but my son was born at 32 w 4 days, weighed 3 lb 14 oz, 17 inches and spent 6 weeks in the NICU. He is now 1 and doing incredibly well! Those weeks in teh NICU were so challenging because we felt so torn between being home with other kids and being at the NICU with him. Just let yourself feel what you feel, take care of yourself (and sleep as much as possible now!) and give yourself completely to your adorable girl when you are home. Let someone else worry about a clean house, dinner etc. Right now is your time to give yourself completely as a MOmmy to your babies (all 3 of them!) God bless you and your family!
ReplyDeleteChelsea! Those little guys are incredible! I can't wait to see more of them. Congratulations, really! I hope all is going well over there! Give tate a squeeze from us!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Horsley family of 5! :) So happy to hear about the arrival of your precious little twins. You look beautiful new mother and I can only imagine how the nicu is difficult. Hang in there. They are so amazing! :) Give my congrats to Wyatt as well! :)
ReplyDeletep.s. I was dying at the pictures of Tate on The Children's Corner. Could she honestly be any cuter?!! What a sweetheart. (And since I was a tomboy (not nearly as stylish though) I think she's just an extra lot!)
